Solar Energy Monitoring

In 2010 our school acquired a 5040 watt photovoltaic (PV) system under the National Solar Schools Program.  It consists of 28 x 180 watt panels which you will see on top of the Junior Primary building.  The average output from our system is estimated to be about 20 kWh/day or 7389 kWh/year.  As you will see from the data below, our highest monitored energy production so far was 36 kWh on the 6th February 2011.

Data about the energy generated by our system can be viewed at the Solarschools website.  On this site you will see :

Regularly updated readings from the system, including voltage, current and air temperature.

Solarschools1

A graph of total energy generated and air temperature for each half hour period during the current day.

Solarschools2

A graph of total energy generated for the last 7 days, 30 days or 12 months.

Solarschools3

Total energy generated by our system since monitoring started as well as carbon dioxide savings.

Data displayed in graphs can also be downloaded and imported into other applications such as MS Excel or MS PowerPoint.

There are also loads of great teacher resources on the site.
